Prevent Heart Attacks without Drugs

An analysis of 305 studies of 339,000 patients reported in the October 1 issue of the British Medical Journal shows that moderate exercise that raises the heart rate is as good as drugs in preventing heart attacks and without side effects. Over fifteen years ago Dr. Dean Ornish showed that exercise and combatting stress with yoga, meditation and group therapy plus a vegetarian diet could even clear existing arterial plaque.
Heart disease is the biggest cause of death in both men and women in America. Thinking that like high blood pressure it can be a silent killer scares people into taking unnecessary drugs. Statins are the worst drugs. They prevent your liver from making coenzyme Q10 as well as LDL-cholesterol. Both are essential chemicals for a healthy body. Statins can cause muscle pain and weakness and mental problems, including depression. Since cholesterol is the starting molecule for sex hormones, adrenal hormones and vitamin D, a deficiency affects your health. Statin use may be a cause of very low vitamin D levels and increased osteoporosis. Cholesterol levels aren’t even very good in predicting heart disease. C-reactive protein and homocysteine levels are much more accurate.
Exercise and don’t eat foods from animals raised in factory farms. They can contain toxins. Also avoid manufactured foods containing trans-fats or high-fructose corn syrup.
Your body is meant to be healthy. Don’t sabotage it with harmful drugs or artificial foods.
